Raynes eyes return to action

Scunthorpe defender Michael Raynes has revealed he is making steady progress in his recovery from injury. The former Stockport skipper picked up a thigh problem at Derby in November but has been an unused substitute in the past two games and is nearing full fitness. He told Iron Player: "I've started running in the last couple of weeks so it's all uphill from here. "I had a bit of a target in mind - just after the New Year. It's a bit before schedule because I was initially ruled out for six to eight weeks, but getting back before the six mark is a massive bonus. "To be honest, these recent postponements have been perfect timing for me. The weather has been an absolute blessing because I've not missed many games due to all the cancellations."
