Middlesbrough have failed to live up to expectations this season, taking just five points from a possible 27 since Gareth Southgate was sacked.

Nigel Adkins' men will fancy their chances of picking up a maximum three-point haul at the Riverside Stadium.

Northern Ireland international O'Connor told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "Middlesbrough aren't doing as well as people thought they would.

"I think if there's any time you want to play Middlesbrough it would be now, because they are struggling - especially at home."
