O'Connor keeping positive

Scunthorpe midfielder Michael O'Connor is remaining upbeat despite being ruled out of action for six to eight weeks with a knee injury. The Northern Ireland international had been an ever-present in the Iron's matchday squad this season, making 27 appearances and scoring five goals. Initial prognosis means he is expected to miss 11 matches but O'Connor is hopeful he will be back sooner rather than later. "I was just in training on the Thursday, went in for a tackle and I felt my knee go," he told the club's official website. "I knew something was wrong straight away. I'm gutted that I'm going to miss such an important stage of the season. "The next six or seven games are crucial in keeping the club in this league, but there is belief in the team that we can pick up points."
