The centre-back damaged ligament in a leg during Tuesday night's 4-1 win at Walsall, and scans have put his recovery time at a minimum of six weeks.
Brian Laws, the Iron manager, is not expecting to have him available again for another eight weeks - which would put him out until January.
“We have had the scan results and it is not looking good," he said.
“It looks like it could be a minimum of six weeks, but maybe nearer eight.
“He has tweaked his ligament and unfortunately that’s the time this injury takes."
