McCall: Iron motivated by critics
The Iron upset Millwall in the League One play-off final to bounce straight back to the Championship following relegation the previous season - and McCann insists more criticism of the unfashionable club will inspire Scunthorpe to prove their knockers wrong.
McCann told the club's official website: "It meant everything for this club to get back into the Championship. It really was an amazing experience.
"Nobody gave us a chance really and there were comments in the national press last season that a club like Scunthorpe don't deserve to be in the Championship.
"In fact, on the morning of the play-off final there was something derogatory in a national newspaper which we showed to all the lads at breakfast.
"It certainly gave us an extra incentive and something to prove. We know next season we'll have even more of that because of the size of the club, but it will make us doubly determined to push on."
