The former Millwall striker has been reduced to just one brief substitute appearance this season due to injury and although he is now fully fit, the 25-year-old knows Gary Hooper and Paul Hayes are Nigel Adkins' first-choice strike pairing.

May is out of contract in the summer and he admits he may have to seek pastures new in order to get his career back on track.

He told the club's official website: "I'm out of contract in the summer so if I was to get a run of games then I just want to show the gaffer and maybe other managers what I can do."

He added: "I just want to play. I've had a couple of seasons of not playing at all really. I'll be finding out in the next few months what will be going on. I want to play football, so if need be I'll have to move on. We'll see."
