Laws was sacked following a 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Grimsby in November.
"I am very disappointed to lose my job because it was uncalled for and unwarranted," said Laws.
"When you look at managers who have lost their jobs recently, you can understand some of them when they are in the bottom part of the league and not doing very well.
"But the fact that I lost my job when we were two points off the play-offs and five points off the top of the league - the team was doing well, nothing changed and we were in a very strong position - is very, very disappointing.
"But it's all about opinions and the chairman has his own thoughts and knows what he wants to do and that's just disappointing for me that someone else is going to benefit from the hard work that I have put in."
The defeat to Grimsby at Glanford Park proved too much for Iron chairman Peter Swann to take and Laws feels if the defeat had been against anyone other than the Mariners, he would have kept his job.
And what annoys Laws even more is the fact his assistant Russ Wilcox, who has won his first three games in caretaker charge, has been given an extended run until at least the new year.
"I think it was all to do with it being Grimsby in my opinion and that's what hurts me because the performance was exceptionally good," he added.
"The result wasn't because we deserved to win the game.
"Russ can do nothing differently, that's the thing, there was nothing wrong to change, the players were playing well, there was a good team spirit. Someone else will benefit from the work I did."
