Laws: "It was a battle"

Brian Laws was delighted as his side bounced back from the weekend's defeat with a 1-0 win at Fleetwood.

A Sam Winnall strike was enough for the Iron to take all three points, despite having three more efforts ruled out for offside.

"Great credit to the players. We knew it was going to be tough but tactically we just about got it right", Laws said.

"It was nice to get a clean sheet.

"It wasn't great in the first half but there were a lot of positives in the second half.

"It was a real battle.

Laws reserved praise for centre backs David Mirfin and Niall Canavan, who dealt with former Iron loanee Jon Parkin well throughout, labelling the duo as the best pairing in the division.

He was also delighted with the performance of Sean McAllister who was struggling with an injury and passed a late fitness test.

"He (McAllister) was fantastic tonight.

"Everyone is starting to appreciate Sean.

He's limping but he'll be OK for saturday, he's a trojan".
