Laws: Embrace the Emotion

Iron boss Brian Laws insists he is not treating Saturday's FA Cup game with Grimsby as a normal game.

The Iron face Grimsby in the first competitive game between the two sides at Blundell Park since the 2004/05 season, for a place in the second round draw.

“We have to embrace the emotion,” Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph

“You have to do something slightly different in your approach because of the importance.

“I won’t treat it as a normal game. It would be stupid for me to think like that – because it’s not a normal game at all.

“In the past, in every derby I’ve either played in or managed in, I’ve never treated them as normal. I don’t want the players too either.

Laws believes the game will be evenly matched but insists the Iron can progress if they players are as motivated as their non league opponents.

"We want to say we are going into this game with our heads right and our motivation will be spot on.“We’re playing for the pride of our supporters.”
