Following the signing of Andy Dawson, Kennedy was expected to be pushed into more of an attacking role by Iron boss Brian Laws.
But the impending arrival of Andy Welsh means that opportunities for the former Swindon full back will be limited.
It is also suggested Kennedy would prefer to move back down south.
