Jones up for Iron survival battle

Jones became the club's record signing when he joined from Hibs during the summer and has played in all three of their games since their return to the second tier. They have lost two of those games, though, and have conceded eight goals already, including two in Tuesday's defeat to Middlesbrough. But the 29-year-old believes he has seen enough to suggest his new side will be able to hold their own for the rest of the season. "Tuesday night was a lot closer than the scoreline suggested," he told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "Yes, we're not going to come up against many sides of Middlesbrough's class this season but we have to set ourselves a standard. "Our standards are quite high. If we go above that standard, fantastic. We have to make inroads into a game and take something from each one."
