Iron to sign Byrne

Scunthorpe United will welcome former captain Cliff Byrne into the squad ahead of Friday's game with Southend.

Byrne is due to join on an emergency loan deal, which can keep him at Glanford Park for a maximum of 93 days.

The move comes after United have received bad news regarding the groin injury Christian Ribeiro picked up at Northampton, with the player likely to be out for a number of months.
