Iron hurting without Hooper - Daws

Scunthorpe caretaker manager Tony Daws believes the club's struggles this season can be attributed to their failure to sign an adequate replacement for striker Gary Hooper. Hooper, who had been Scunthorpe's leading scorer with 50 goals over the previous two seasons, joined Celtic in a big-money move last summer. The Iron have subsequently struggled this term and boss Ian Baraclough was sacked last week with the club in the relegation zone. Daws said: "It's very, very difficult for us with the players we lost at the start of this season. "When you lose people like Gary Hooper, who was guaranteed 20 or 25 goals a season, it's very difficult to replace someone like him. "I think every football team needs someone to score goals for you and when that's taken out of your team it's very difficult."
