The Iron sit third bottom in the Championship after their 3-0 hammering by Newcastle on Wednesday, with Plymouth four points behind and a place below.

Adkins could again be without striker and top scorer Gary Hooper, who is still struggling with the groin injury that has seen him miss the last two games, while defender David Mirfin is also a doubt also with a groin strain.

Full-back Marcus Williams could also miss out after picking up a groin strain at Newcastle, while midfielder Josh Wright's availability will have to be checked after he was brought off on Wednesday with a foot injury.

Skipper Cliff Byrne will also miss out as he serves the second of a five-game ban.

Long-term absentee Ian Morris (knee) is still a month away from a return.
