Iron dish out four pro deals

Scunthorpe have offered professional contracts to four second-year youth trainees. Goalkeeper Jake Turner, centre-back Ashley Palmer and strikers Aron Wint and Jordan Thewis have all been given one-year deals. Youth development officer Tony Daws told the club's official website: "It gives them an extra year to develop with us. There used to be three-year traineeships, but the third year was taken away nationally. "Obviously not all second years are making the necessary progress to be put forward for a third year but we just feel that these four have that potential. "They will be training with the professionals and will have to put the work in. In 12 months' time hopefully they will have done enough to be offered another contract."
