Iron director decides to step down
Chairman Steve Wharton revealed that pressing obligations and an inability to commit sufficient time to the club resulted in the club reluctantly accepting his resignation.
"If Simon cannot give something 100% it plays on his mind but I know he will always be a fanatical Scunthorpe United supporter," Wharton told the club's official website.
"We very much appreciate his contribution to the success of our club whilst he has been a director and indeed for the many years of sponsorship, in its various forms, before he joined the board.
"We will always be grateful for his valuable contribution to the well being and running of our club."
