Iron close in on Hull's Dawson

Andy Dawson is on the verge of a move back to Glanford Park as he prepares to call time on a ten year stint with Hull.

Dawson is one of the names at the top of manager Brian Laws’ shopping list this summer and it is believed talks between the two parties are at an advanced stage.

Brian Laws refused to confirm Dawson was a target, but confirmed he was in talks with a player whose signature would be a 'coup' for the club.

“I am quietly confident we’ll be able to bring in players that, on and off the field, will embrace what we are trying to achieve,” he said.

“I’ve had talks with a particular player who has a great calibre and has played at a good level.

“If we can achieve it, I’ll be quite excited. It will be a coup for the club.”

Dawson is out of contract this summer and admitted after the Tigers’ promotion back to the Premier League his playing days at the KC Stadium were numbered.
