Iron boss pleased to get reward

Pools twice fought back to level the game, but could not do it a third time after striker Paul Hayes grabbed his second goal of the game, both made by strike partner Gary Hooper, to leave the Iron two points adrift of the top six with two games in hand. Adkins said: "It was a really big win for us. The players had to be reminded before the game and again at half-time what was necessary, but they got there in the end and now our fate this season is in our own hands. "There are some tired bodies after that game, because they had dug really deep to get the result. Their hard work got its reward in the end."
