Striker Hayes described the surprise extra-time defeat against the Football League's bottom side Luton at Wembley on Sunday as the lowest point of his career. And the former Barnsley frontman insists he cannot bear the thought of more disappointment come the end of the season. "Now this cup competition is over with, we have got to put everything we possibly can into the league and I for one will make sure we do our utmost to get promoted." Hayes told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "It is time for the squad to show their strength of character now, with Huddersfield coming up on Friday. We are not boys anymore, we are not young - we are experienced enough now to overcome this."
