Hayes keen to get quick start

United sealed their place in the Championship against Millwall at Wembley last season, and Hayes believes the feelgood factor could help avoid a sluggish start when they kick-off the season against Cardiff on August 8. "It's much better to start on a high than a downer," Hayes told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "Teams who go into the season on a high are going to start well so that is to our advantage. "It was hard last pre-season because we had just got relegated, we were on a downer."
