Hayes happy to take responsibility

The prolific Hooper is sidelined with a hamstring problem and looks set to miss Saturday's Championship game against Rovers. But Hayes is determined to play his part in extending the Iron's four-game unbeaten run in his strike partner's absence and add to his tally of three goals for the season. He told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "Our top scorer Gary Hooper being out means I have to try and take on the responsibility of scoring goals for the team. "That is why you get put in the team as a striker, to score goals. "I haven't scored many of late but I am pleased to get the goal against Port Vale (on Tuesday night) and I have got to crack on and concentrate on scoring others."
