The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper was linked with a number of clubs after stalling on a new contract at Glanford Park, saying he would only decide on his future at the end of the recent season. But, after helping the Iron regain their Championship status through the play-offs, the 27-year-old has opted to remain with the club until the end of the coming season with the option of a further year should they avoid relegation. Murphy revealed he snubbed some Premier League clubs to stay and told Scunthorpe's official website: "It's not that the clubs weren't the right option, I just thought that there is still unfinished business here. "There were one or two Premier League clubs but it would probably have meant sitting on the bench or sitting in the stands. "I still feel a owe the club a bit and obviously if we stay up this time it rolls into the second year which will be good as I'd be happy to sign another deal."
