The veteran defender has taken up a coaching role at Glanford Park but the 36-year-old centre-half has also been registered as a player for the 2009/10 campaign. Crosby, like last season, will not be a first-team regular for the Iron, but Adkins insists his influence on the younger players at the club will prove vital. "Andy is a real role model for them. He has vast experience as a player and we are not going to waste that," Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "We want to try and bring on our development players and what better way for them to learn than playing alongside Andy Crosby. "He is not going to be one of our front-line defenders for the first team - but who knows?"
