Byrne out until September

Scunthorpe captain Cliff Byrne will not be fit for first-team duty until September. Byrne, 29, has not played since January due to a trapped nerve in his back. He had surgery on the problem in the close season, but has been ruled out of the entire pre-season schedule."We're disappointed with that because he's been a big player for this club and still is, but we need to make sure he's fully fit when he returns," said Iron manager Alan Knill, speaking to the club's official website.
