Burton and Fagan get another chance

Deon Burton and Craig Fagan will get further chance to impress at Farsley on Tuesday.

The duo played a half each in Saturday’s friendly defeat to Sheffield Wednesday and boss Brian Laws is keen to have another look at them.

“When Chris (Iwelumo) is out the side we have an issue. That’s why we’re looking at other options, and you saw two good, quality players there on Saturday.

“The chairman’s asked me to look because he knows we’re fairly weak in that area.”

Thirty-six-year-old Burton helped Gillingham to promotion from League Two last season with 13 goals in 43 appearances.

“They don’t have to twist my arm and tell me what they’re about. I know exactly what they’re about, it’s just about seeing whether they’re ideal for our squad, which we’re trying to fatten up.”

Former Hull man Fagan showed some good touches in the first half against the Owls.
