The Iron have a mounting injury list and have suffered successive away defeats at Nottingham Forest and Plymouth Argyle.
Adkins believes the chance to regroup has come at the perfect time for his squad, and told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "We've lost that feel-good factor at this moment in time.
"We feel a bit deflated with the defeat at Plymouth and the journey back was a long one.
"But hopefully we can regroup now, work really hard on the training pitch as we did last time and then look forward to our next few games."
