Barcham banned as appeal fails

Striker Andy Barcham will miss Tuesday night's trip to Rochdale as he starts a three-match ban. Barcham was red carded in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Sheffield United, and the club have failed in an appeal which would have allowed him to play at Spotland. Bobby Grant returns from a one-match suspension and is likely to slot back into the side, partnering Chris Dagnall. Both are former Dale players, with Dagnall signing from the Lancashire side at the start of last season and Grant spending time on loan with them. Michael Collins (Achilles), Jordan Robertson (ankle), Matty Godden (groin) and Cliff Byrne (back) will miss out. Rochdale will be buoyed by their first league win of the season on Saturday, when they recorded a 4-2 win in the Lancashire derby at Bury. Nicky Adams will sit out the clash with the Iron after being sent off at Gigg Lane. Brian Barry-Murphy (knee) is in contention for his first start of the season, but Joe Thompson (thigh) and Simon Hackney (stomach) remain out.
