Baraclough takes cautious approach

The Iron have yet to announce any new signings during the transfer window as manager Nigel Adkins cautiously weighs up the changes needed to equip his squad for life in the Championship. "It's important we've got a squad that can cope with the whole season," Baraclough told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "Last time we perhaps fell away at Christmas time because I don't think the strength in depth was there. "Hopefully this time we'll have a squad that can last the pace. "The way we've gone about it is building a squad slowly and methodically," he added. "If you look back in history, building teams gradually is the way that it's done. Teams that make wholesale changes, and sometimes you have to because people will go out the door, don't seem to do that well immediately."
