Baraclough backs Pearson

Scunthorpe manager Ian Baraclough urged Hull to keep faith with under-fire boss Nigel Pearson following Saturday's 1-0 derby win at the KC Stadium. Michael O'Connor snatched an 89th-minute winner for the Iron to condemn Hull to a seventh successive game without a win and a third straight loss at home. Yet Baraclough backed his opposite number by insisting: "Nigel Pearson has a tough job on his hands. "Given time and backing, I'm sure he will turn this club around and make it great again. He did exactly that at my hometown club Leicester. "We knew the Hull fans weren't happy and we tried to make the most of that. We thought if they got restless, Hull might start to leave gaps at the back - and that's what happened."
