Scunthorpe boss Ian Baraclough has revealed he missed out on bringing Middlesbrough striker Marvin Emnes to Glanford Park on loan.
The 22-year-old, who can operate up front and on the wing, has instead agreed to join npower Championship rivals Swansea.
"I was hoping to have brought him in by now but he's decided to go there instead," Baraclough said.
"That was his choice. As soon as he was made aware that we wanted to bring him in Swansea were made aware of the situation and they made their move.
"It's frustrating. He's chosen to go somewhere where there's a far bigger squad, and whether he will play as much as he wants I don't know."
