Another big loss for Scunthorpe

Chairman Steve Wharton told shareholders that a loss in excess of £500,000 was forecasted for June 30th 2010, to go with the £1m already lost at the end of the 2008/09 season.[LNB]Wharton said: "We shall lose money this year and if we are in the Championship next season, which I hope we are, then we'll have to keep a tight control on expenditure.[LNB]"Our income is so much less than other Championship clubs. We are doing well with our home crowds. We are averaging 5,500 home supporters, which is double what we were getting five years ago.[LNB]"However, that figure is only a third of what other Championship clubs are getting. That's what makes it difficult. If we get relegated, then there is a big difficulty in getting our costs back under control."[LNB]Wharton also revealed that Scunthorpe's losses would have been bigger, had it not been for their two play-off matches at Wembley which allowed them to return to the Championsip.[LNB][LNB]
