Adkins upset by referee decisions

Adkins was careful not to be too critical of referee Jonathan Moss after the defeat, but described some of the decisions that have gone against his side recently as "very decisions"[LNB]"I have to be careful what I say or else money will come out of my pocket," he said.[LNB]"I know the referee does not have access to technology when he is making his decisions.[LNB]"But I have looked at both penalties on the DVD, the first was a good challenge and with the second both players made contact with the ball at the same time.[LNB]"We also had a player sent off on Boxing Day at Middlesbrough and these decisions are very disappointing.[LNB]"I will be going in to see the referee because he has sent one of my players off for using foul and abusive language.[LNB]"But I will be wanting to talk to him about the manner in which he has spoken to some of my players during the game."[LNB]Adkins would not elaborate on anything that referee Moss had said, but he was clearly disappointed with the performance of the Leeds-based official.[LNB]Garry Thompson missed a great chance to put Scunthorpe in front before Graham Dorrans netted for the Baggies after 19 minutes with a fierce volley.[LNB]Scunthorpe replied at the start of the second half when skipper Rob Jones netted his first goal for the club, getting the finishing touch to a shot from Josh Wright.[LNB]But the red card drama started to unfold in the 61st minute when Scunthorpe full back Andy Wright was sent off for a second bookable offence.[LNB]Five minutes later Albion were back in front when Dorrans netted from the spot after he himself was adjudged to have been brought down by Michael O'Connor.[LNB]The referee pointed to the spot again in the 74th minute following David Mirfin's challenge on Luke Moore.[LNB]Before the kick could be taken the home side were down to nine men when midfielder Grant McCann was dismissed for dissent.[LNB]Goalkeeper Joe Murphy kept out the second penalty from Dorrans to deny the Scottish international a hat-trick but the visitors made certain of the points in the 86th minute with a great finish from defender Gianni Zuiverloon.[LNB]The result put a smile on the face of manager Roberto di Matteo.[LNB]"That's six points out of six from the two Christmas games and just what we wanted to keep up the pressure at the top of the table," he declared.[LNB]"I thought we were in control for most of this game.[LNB]"We might have been more than one goal in front by the interval and it was disappointing to see Scunthorpe come back on level terms from a set-piece situation.[LNB]"As far as the two penalties are concerned, I did not really get a good view of the first decision but the second looked a clear penalty to me.[LNB]"My players had to be careful to keep their discipline because the home crowd were trying to influence the decisions of the referee.[LNB]"Graham Dorrans is normally very good from the penalty spot and it was disappointing to see him miss his second effort.[LNB]"But I always thought we were in control of the game and it was a super finish from Zuiverloon that made certain of victory."[LNB][LNB]
