The Iron travel to in-form Coventry on Saturday to face a Sky Blues side who have lost just one of their last seven Championship games to move up to 10th in the table.

Adkins is expecting a stern test at the Ricoh Arena and has urged his players to roll up their sleeves once again as they look to move further away from the drop zone.

He said: "A lot of teams are on a good run. Every game is going to be massive we know that, we are well aware of that and as long as we can keep competing it's a game of inches as we keep saying."

Meanwhile, Scunthorpe's home game with Reading which was scheduled Saturday March 6 has been postponed after the Royals reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. No new date for the Championship clash has been confirmed.
