The 21-year-old has scored 30 goals for the Iron this season, helping them reach the League One play-off final against Millwall on Sunday. As a result his name has been linked with a move away from Glanford Park this summer, but Adkins, who has seen a number of prolific strikers leave the club during his reign, is confident the club can continue to prosper should that happen. "Whatever happens, happens," he said. "We've all got to go out their with the desire to be the best that we can be. If somebody shows an interest in Gary Hooper, he's under contract, then this football club will benefit from that. "Gary will benefit because he's doing well for this football club and in the long-term for his future, as has Billy Sharp, Andy Keogh, Jermaine Beckford and Martin Paterson." Hooper is currently two goals short of Sharp's club record 32 in a season, set two years ago when the club won the League One title.
