Adkins lauds Scunny strike pair
The pair have enjoyed a fine season, scoring 43 goals between them already, as the Iron chase promotion to the Championship.
"To me Gary and Paul are the best, They compliment each other so well," Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
"They are part of a team here that has licence to express themselves and play exciting football."
Hooper has scored 27 goals and is two behind Leeds hotshot Jermaine Beckford in the race for the Golden Boot but Adkins believes Hayes deserves credit too.
"Paul sometimes comes in for some unfair criticism," Adkins continued. "He works so, so hard for the team. He has got so much ability and he has got to utilise that to the maximum, because before you know it, your career is over."
