Glasgow City just keep on winning

Glasgow City picked up another award last night at the Sports Person of the Year Awards in Glasgow as they were named Glasgow Team of the Year. Hosted by BBC’s Bryan Burnett and held at the City Chambers in front of distinguished guests and nominees, the Awards were put on by Glasgow Life on behalf of Glasgow City Council to recognise the achievements of its sporting stars for the year just passed. City were the proud winners of the Team of the Year award having won the Scottish Women’s Premier League for the fifth year in a row, finishing the season on maximum points and 15 points ahead of nearest rivals Spartans. City’s also reached the last 16 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, becoming the only Scottish team ever to do so.Having won the award in 2008 and shortlisted again last year, Glasgow City are thrilled to be recognised for their sporting achievements.Other notable winners were boxer Ricky Burns (Leaders Special Award) and Imogen Bankier (Sports Personality of the Year) after having won Silver at the Badminton World Championships last August.
