A significant milestone is in view for Craig Winter

Craig Winter is on the cusp of playing his six hundredth game of his career tomorrow when East Stirling’s take on Stranraer. The milestone could have been reached earlier but he picked up an ankle injury a fortnight ago. The on-loan Cowdenbeath player began his career at Central Park in 1994 and has clocked up over 400 games in two spells with the Blue Brazil and the rest of his appearances being made at Brechin, Dumbarton, Raith Rovers, Forfar as well as his two games for the Shire in his temporary spell. The 35 year old moved to the Third Division side to lend his experience during a month long period and Shire head coach John Coughlin is hoping that Winter can take his place in the centre of his defence tomorrow. He said: "It would be a great boost for us if Craig was fit enough to play against Clyde. Anyone who was at Stranraer last weekend could see how much we missed him compared to the previous two matches. The swelling around Craig’s ankle has gone down and he has told me that he will; be playing if he comes through training at Cowdenbeath without any reaction. It is important landmark in Craig’s career to reach 600 games and hopefully he will do it for the Shire this weekend."
