Mark Wilson wants to see Neil lennon win a prize this year Mark Wilson wants Celtic to lift the Scottish Cup on Saturday and reward manager Neil Lennon for his efforts under difficult circumstances this season. Rangers won the SPL title last Sunday by one point from Celtic, and also beat them in the Co-operative Insurance Cup final in March. Wilson wants to ease the pain of those two losses with a victory over Motherwell which would earn Lennon the first silverware of his management career. Wilson said: He said: "It would be nice to win a trophy. We were going for three not so long ago - losing the CIS and then the league. It's got to be some consolation if you get one of the three. I just think this manager and the management team deserve some silverware, especially the way they've had this group of players playing. It's been very entertaining football throughout the season and it would be nice for him to go up there and lift the cup. It's massively important to us. This is our last chance (to win a trophy this season) and it would be nice to go out there win the game and play some entertaining football." Lennon's future at the club is still not confirmed beyond being on a six-month rolling contract at Parkhead. he is happy with the arrangements but many fans want him to be rewarded for his efforts this season with improved terms. Wilson is pleased to see the progress made under Lennon's leadership and hopes the same management team will oversee a championship-winning campaign next term. The right-back went on: "He's really disappointed we didn't win the league but I think he can be really proud of what he's achieved this year at Celtic and how he's brought the fans and the club together again. He loves this club so much that he wants to stay and build something special here. This season we weren't too far away from it. Rangers beat us in extra-time and they pipped us by a point in the league - apart from that we could have been sitting here talking about a treble. I'm sure next year he'll hope to build on that and achieve what we could've done this season." Wilson's name was missing from the Scotland squad announced yesterday by Craig Levein today for the Carling Nations Cup games with Wales and the Republic of Ireland in Dublin next week. Wilson said: "I've been struggling with a knee problem for quite a bit now. Craig was totally sympathetic to that and understood and it was agreed it was maybe a game too far this season, that I could do with four weeks' rest to be fit for pre-season. I'm sorry I'm not going. I loved getting a cap for Scotland and it would be nice to get a few more. I believe in the future I could have a chance of getting a few more so it's no big worry."
