The iceland premier league season has already begun and Breiðablik will be match fit by the time they meet Motherwell Played eight, won four, drawn two and lost two and lying fourth in the league. Not a bad start to the season for Icelandic side Breiðablik which will be visiting Fir Park on 15 July for the first leg of the second qualifying round of the Europa League. Having watched some videos of the club, one of the players the Motherwell defence will have to look out for will be Kristinn Steindorsson. He appears to be just as happy setting goals as scoring them.   Background Breiðablik (known as UBK Kopavogur when playing in European competitions) was founded in 1950 and is the biggest sports club in Kópavogur. The team play in green and white strips and has several sporting teams associated with the club, both men and women: football, athletics (track and field), basketball, karate, dance, skiing, swimming and team handball. The name Breiðablik comes from norse mythology where it was the home of Baldur. The nickname Blikar,Blix is formed from the second part of that name, meaning splendors or twinkles (like a star). The singular form Bliki is also a name for male ducks. Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba net)This is Scottish-Fitba Net
