Allan Johnston hope to have Kris Boyd available for selection come Saturday

Kilmarnock manager Allan Johnston is still feeling confident that Kris Boyd will sign a on-year deal with the Rugby Park side. Boyd returned to Rugby Park earlier this year on a short-term contract and scored three goals for Killie. With the first Scottish Premiership game looming, against Aberdeen on Saturday, Johnston would like to have the Boyd deal concluded ahead of the trip to Pittodrie. Johnston said: "Hopefully, we've been trying to do that for a wee while. I think Boydy's keen to stay as well. And somebody like that can only improve us. He's a top quality player. He's played at the highest level and scored goals at the highest level. There are not many players who can do that."Getting Boyd's signature on a contract is not the only deal Johnston would like to have in place before the end of the transfer window. He has other targets in mind, but they are not at a stage that they will be in the squad soon. Johnstone went on: "I don't know if we'll get them in before Saturday. But before the end of the transfer window we're hoping to bring in a few more players."
