Positive signs of the return to full fitness of Darren Fletcher can only be helpful for Scotland

Wigan midfielder James McArthur was pleased to hear that Darren Fletcher had returned to action for Manchester United and looking forward to seeing him back in the blue of Scotland. However, he insists Fletcher's heath remains the priority. Fletcher had not played for United since last November until he came on as a substitute in their Champions League win over Galatasaray on Wednesday. Th e Scotland captain has been sidelined by a chronic bowel condition, but his return for United has raised hopes that Fletcher could be available for Scotland's World Cup qualifiers against Wales and Belgium next month. McArthur, who has also been out of action recently, would welcome the prospect of Fletcher leading the national side again.  He said: "We have missed him, of course we have. Most teams would miss a player of Darren's ability and the fact he is such an important player for a club the size of Man United tells you that. I would love to see him back in a Scotland shirt but first and foremost, we all just want him to be healthy. That was always the main priority and everyone is delighted that his health must be improving for him to be back training and playing. I know Darren will also consider his health to be his main concern, but his football is a massive part of his life and he will be desperate to get back playing for his club and country. Playing for Scotland means so much to him and his influence on and off the pitch is massive. Even when he hasn't been involved in the team recently, Darren has still been to games and spoken to the players. He is a big part of our squad but we would rather have him back on the pitch with us."
