Loan deals could be extended in East Stirlingshire if agreement can be reached

It is not just the transfer window that dictates moves and changes in January. A number of loan deals end as the year changes which means that clubs have to consider what to do from January onwards.

East Stirlingshire’s John Coughlin is just one manager who has to make some tough decisions over the next few days as he looks to shake things up in his squad for the second half of the season. Shire have four players on loan who are due to go back to their clubs,  Calum Antell and Lewis Horner (Hibs), Bradley Coyne (St Mirren) and Craig Winter (Cowdenbeath), and there are a number of contracts are also due to expire at the end of the year.

Coughlin, who saw his side lose 6-0 to Stranraer at the weekend, said:  “We would like to keep the loan players for a good while longer but that will depend on what those players, and their clubs think about things. We also have a few of our own signed players whose contracts are up and decisions will have to be made on their future with us. Some moves have worked out and some have not, so I will need to make my mind up on the way forward soon."
