Webster hoping to play major part

Andy Webster is hoping his track record under Craig Levein will keep him in the Scotland manager's plans for next month's Euro 2012 qualifiers.

The Rangers defender had to withdraw from the squad for Wednesday's friendly against Sweden in Stockholm due to a hamstring injury sustained last week.

"Playing international football is one of the highlights of anyone's career and getting the opportunity to be involved is great," Webster told Rangers' official website.

"But injuries happen and it's just one of these things that I'm having to miss the Sweden game. I just have to get on with things.

"Hopefully I can get back into the group for the qualifiers.

"Going out on loan last season was really good for me as it has given me a chance at club and international level again.

"I've worked with the manager before and he knows what I'm all about so, from that point of view, it has been great.

"Hopefully that stands me in good stead when the competitive games start in September against Lithuania and Liechtenstein.

"I just need to worry about getting a game at Rangers and doing well there.

"After that, these things take care of themselves."
