We Can Only Play With Players Available

Kenny Miller is not feeling pressure to score just because Stephen Fletcher is unavailable

Scotland's Kenny Miller does not feel the debate over Steven Fletcher's non-selection is adding any pressure on strikers following the 0-0 draw with Serbia on Saturday. Craig Levein's men will play Macedonia tonight hoping to gain three points to have four points for their opening two game in the World Cup 2014 qualifying group.  Fletcher recently joined Sunderland in a big-money move and has not played for Scotland since he texted the management that he did not want to be involved in a friendly against Northern Ireland last year. Levein has left the door open for Fletcher for a long time but heard nothing, so has not considered him for the two home games. Miller is not bothered about the debate and insists the most important thing is that the harmony within the squad is maintained.  Asked if the Fletcher debate was putting added pressure on the strikers to produce the goods without him, Miller said: "But we've not got him, I don't think it does. The situation has to go away until Steven says he wants to play. I get asked this every single time and the answer is always the same: He doesn't want to play. If somebody makes that decision we have to respect and stand by it. Bringing it up every five minutes is not going to make any difference. If he decides he wants to play, brilliant, but he doesn't. He was on holiday this week, wasn't he? I saw that in the papers. He's the only one who can change his mind. If he wanted to pick the phone up then he would be welcomed back. But you don't want to force somebody to do something they don't want to. We have a good group of players and don't want anything to ruin that."
