Was Tuesday The Start Of The Dons Turning the Corner

Craig Brown knows his side can play better than they did in Perth. Will they be able to show how much better at home tomorrow?

Aberdeen manager Craig Brown was pleased to get the right result on Tuesday, with an away win for the first time this season, against St Johnstone. He now wants to build on that result when they welcome Hibs to Pittodrie. Tuesday's win took the Dons to ninth place but Brown is wary of Saturday's visitors, who are three points and two places behind in 11th, under their new manager Pat Fenlon.

Brown said: "We started the season with the objective of trying to get into the top six. We haven't achieved anything like that so far. Our performance against St Johnstone was poorer than in some of the games we lost. That's the beginning, I hope, of an evening out of good fortune, or bad fortune, in our case. I wouldn't like those who saw us against St Johnstone to think that's the best we can do - far from it. We can play far better and we'll have to play far better against Hibs if we're going to win. We want to win every game and we do feel that it would be a great opportunity to confirm that the result we got wasn't a one off. This is a home game and if we can go away and beat the team that is fourth in the league, we've got to be optimistic about beating the team that's 11th at home." Fenlon has yet to record a point since he arrived at Hibs. His first game in charge (against Motherwell) was abandoned and Rangers won 2-0 last weekend. However, Brown is not  complacent after the Dons' luck turned in the win in Perth. Brown added: "I respect Hibs and I respect their new manager so this is going to be a particularly difficult fixture. Their players will want to respond immediately. They were unfortunate that the first match in charge was against one of the Old Firm as that makes it even more difficult. I watched the game against Rangers and there wasn't much in it, they marginally lost the game last week - hopefully it'll be the same again this week."
