U-Turn By Peat

George Peat can see the argument for taking three months off in the winter SFA president George Peat has been converted to the idea of summer football  following the number of postponements this month. Scottish football has been decimated in December as the freezing weather has taken a firm grip on the country. The majority of SPL games have been postponed due to snow and ground safety concerns while SFL games have stood little to no chance of getting the green light. Peat has always been against playing football through the summer and had been wondering which month to have a winter break, although he now feels it might be sensible to take December, January and February off.Peat said: "I have been anti-summer football all my life but recently my views have changed. When would you have a winter break? December, January or February? I am now beginning to think: 'Have it for December, January and February and play from March to November.' You wouldn't have postponements. Now it is time for a change. The only problems would be when you have competitions like the World Cup and the European Championship. But other countries can find a way round it." Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba net)This is Scottish-Fitba.Net
