United Talking To Clubs About Goodwillie

It is better to talk to interested parties than react to media speculation. Dundee United have been talking to other clubs about what it would take to prise striker David Goodwillie away from Tannadice. Rangers have already had a bid turned down for the player with manager Peter Houston suggesting the young player would be 'too expensive' for them. It has been suggested that an offer of over £2m would ease the United fingers on Goodwillie's contract. We already know that Championship rivals Blackpool and Cardiff City also keen on the Scotland international. Cardiff are rumoured to be favourites to win the chase and, speaking after the 2-1 win friendly win over Drogheda United on Sunday, Houston confirmed chairman Stephen Thompson has been contacted by interested parties. he said: "The chairman has been speaking to a couple of clubs, but no agreement has been reached with anyone." Goodwillie was on target in the win over Drogheda and his United team-mate Willo Flood has advised the forward to join Cardiff. Flood, who spent two-and-a-half years with Cardiff, said: "If I were Goody I would go to England because at least he would have a life outside of football. I would recommend Cardiff to Goody. It's a good club and he would enjoy living down there. They have great staff who would look after him. They've got a new stadium and training ground. If they were to get promoted to the Premiership, football in Wales would hit the roof."
