Ross McCormack, James Forrest and Danny Fox have all withdrawn from Scotland's squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Wales and Serbia, the Scottish Football Association announced on Monday.

Scotland manager Gordon Strachan, who will take charge of his first competitive game against Wales on Friday, has drafted in Norwich City defender Steven Whittaker to provide cover.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon revealed at the weekend that winger Forrest has been laid low with a back injury.

No reason has been given yet for the withdrawals of Leeds United striker McCormack or Southampton left-back Fox.
