Kevin Thomson thinks he is due a run of good fortune after injuries at his last three clubs have hindered his progress. He has signed a one year contract with Hibs after playing towards the end of last season for no wages. Thomson suffered cruciate ligament injuries at both Hibs and Rangers but his problems did not disappear after moving to Middlesbrough. The midfielder suffered the first of two leg fractures in his second game for the club and a number of other injuries prevented him enjoying a prolonged run in the team. His ‘free’ period at Hibs included an appearance at Hampden when Hibs lost to Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final. Now that he has some sort of security he feels he can step up the rejuvenation of his career at the place where it began.Thomson said: "I got some good plaudits, I got some bad plaudits, when I came up the road at the end of the season. I felt it was a successful time, I managed to play in a semi-final and final, was part of a team that went to Tynecastle and won a derby. I classed it as a successful stint, everyone else will have their own opinion, but I think they will see the real Kevin Thomson when I have played 10-15 games in a row and hopefully I will be able to show these fans what I'm made of. I played seven or eight games when I came up at the end of the season. When I was down at Middlesbrough for two and a half years, I only played six games in a row. That was a frustration, I want to train every day and play every game. Unfortunately my body has let me down in the past. But it's not something I ever moan about, I never say I'm going to chuck it, I keep on bouncing back and working hard. I feel that this year could be my year."Thomson had other options this summer but believes Easter Road is the right place to get back playing regularly. Thomson, who is in contention to face Malmo in the Europa League in Sweden tomorrow (Thursday), said: "It was just a case of doing what my heart says. I had options down south and a few options abroad. But this is a wonderful place to play football and a season here showing everyone what I can do is hopefully another progression in my career. I've worked hard and I'm in good shape. I just need a bit of consistency and a run of games."
