There Is Still Hope For Us Old Ones

Feeling over the hill at 35? There is still a chance to feel those aching muscles in the morning.

The SFA are still interested in people playing football and have linked up with housemates, Queens Park, in a new programme designed to keep players active by keeping playing when they are 35-year-old. The Spiders have agreed to run the Mars Initiative which gives as many over 35’s as turn up free five or seven-a-side football at their Lesser Hampden complex on a Sunday evening for the next 5 weeks. This test period will determine if there is an appetite for the the scheme to be continued or rolled out elsewhere. Queen’s Park’s Head of Community George Watson said: "We call this the veterans programme although 35 is still young. We simply just want as many people as possible to turn up looking for a game and we will give them one whether they turn up on their own or with their mates. We run our own coaching classes on a Saturday for adults but this is slightly different and we are grateful to the SFA for their help in setting it up."
